Magnesia brick is an alkaline refractory with more than 90% magnesia and periclase as the main crystal phase.
Generally, it can be divided into two categories: sintered magnesia bricks (also known as fired magnesia bricks) and chemically bonded magnesia bricks (also known as unburned magnesia bricks). The magnesia brick with high purity and firing temperature is called direct bonded magnesia brick because of the direct contact of periclase grains; Bricks made from fused magnesia are called fused magnesia bricks.
Magnesium bricks have high fire resistance, good alkali resistance slag performance, high starting temperature for load softening, but poor thermal shock resistance. Sintered magnesia bricks are made from magnesia bricks as raw materials, which are crushed, batched, mixed, and shaped before being fired at a high temperature of 1550-1600 ℃. The firing temperature of high-purity products is above 1750 ℃. Non poured magnesia bricks are made by adding appropriate chemical binders to magnesia sand, mixing, shaping, and drying.
The fired magnesia bricks use high-quality sintered magnesia as the main raw material and pulp as the binder. After mixing and high-pressure molding, it is fired in a high-temperature tunnel kiln above 1550 ℃. It has good thermal stability, corrosion resistance, and anti peeling performance. Widely used as lining refractory material for industrial kilns such as converters and electric arc furnaces.
Electric fused magnesium bricks have the advantages of dense brick structure, high mechanical strength, and low impurity content, and are mainly used in the high-temperature area of the regenerative chamber of large glass kilns. Fused magnesite is made from high-quality magnesite by melting. It is made of magnesite, bischofite or magnesium hydroxide extracted from sea water by calcining at high temperature. Strong resistance to hydration.
